PlayStyles and PlayStyle+: which ones make a difference

What PlayStyles are

PlayStyles are special abilities on a card. Finesse Shot makes curled finishes more accurate, Incisive Pass improves through balls along the ground, Anticipate raises the chance of a standing tackle winning the ball and Aerial Fortress makes the player jump higher in aerial duels.

Each PlayStyle has a regular version and a PlayStyle+ version, which is stronger and rarer. Special cards usually have more PlayStyles+ than the base version of the same player.

Why they matter so much

Attributes say how well a player executes an action; a PlayStyle changes the action itself, with animations and effects a card without it does not have. An 86 striker with Finesse Shot+ often scores more curled goals than an 88 without it.

So compare PlayStyles before looking at the overall. On each FCUTeam card page, PlayStyles+ are highlighted and each one has a description of what it does.

Which to look for in each position

There is no definitive list, because it depends on how you play, but some PlayStyles show up in the most used squads for each position.

• Strikers: Finesse Shot, Power Shot, Quick Step and First Touch.
• Midfielders: Incisive Pass, Tiki Taka, Technical and Press Proven.
• Defenders: Anticipate, Intercept, Block and Aerial Fortress.
• Goalkeepers: Far Reach, Cross Claimer and Footwork.

Evolutions that add PlayStyles

Many evolutions grant PlayStyles or PlayStyles+ as level rewards. Some require the card to have at most a certain number of PlayStyles to enter, so a card with few PlayStyles can be the best candidate. The FCUTeam evolutions page shows these requirements and what each level unlocks.

How to find the right card

In the FCUTeam card search you can filter by PlayStyle and ask for the PlayStyle+ version only, together with position, rating and price range. It is the quickest way to find, for example, the cheapest centre-back with Anticipate+.
