AcceleRATE in FC 27: Explosive, Controlled and Lengthy

What AcceleRATE is

AcceleRATE is the player's acceleration curve: how he starts moving and how he reaches top speed. FC 27 has three types. Explosive gains speed very fast over the first few metres and loses a little at the end. Lengthy starts slowly but reaches top speed and holds it for longer. Controlled sits between the two.

The game does not display the type on the card. FCUTeam shows it on every card page and, when you try a chemistry style, recalculates it with the same FC 27 rules.

Which attributes decide the type

The type comes from four numbers: height, agility, strength and acceleration. If a card meets neither the Explosive nor the Lengthy rules, it is Controlled. Height limits differ for men and women.

• Explosive: up to 182 cm (162 cm for women), agility 65 or more, agility at least 10 points above strength and acceleration 80 or more.
• Lengthy: 185 cm or more (165 cm for women), strength 65 or more, strength at least 4 points above agility and acceleration 40 or more.
• Controlled: every other case.

When each type works best

Explosive players shine in tight spaces: wingers and attacking midfielders who receive with their back to goal, turn and get ahead of their marker in two steps. Lengthy players do best in open space, such as a counter-attack with the ball played in behind the defence, and suit tall strikers who also win physical duels.

Controlled is not worse: the curve is balanced, and many of the best players in the game are Controlled. The type matters most when you compare two similar cards.

Chemistry styles can change the type

Because AcceleRATE depends on attributes, a chemistry style that raises agility, strength or acceleration can change a card's type. A player who is 2 acceleration points short of Explosive can get there with a style that adds pace. It is worth checking before you choose the style.

Game updates can change it too: Title Update 1.4.0 raised the minimum Lengthy height to 185 cm for men and 165 cm for women, and some cards changed type overnight.
